If you have a second to listen to the latest Maverick City Music/Kirk Franklin collaboration, you will not be disappointed. “Bless Me,” which dropped Friday, is an energetic, “infectious celebration of life,” as the song’s official announcement refers to it.
Here’s some lyrics of the uplifting track: “Bless me, bless me, Bless me God indeed / Death has been defeated, He is our victory / Bless me, bless me, God not just for me / But so everyone around me can have everything they need / Let all these folks that’s with me God have everything they need.”
Serving as the second single from the forthcoming collaborative Kingdom Book 1 album, the electric new ballad follows “Kingdom,” which dropped May 20 and was recorded at the Everglades Correctional Institution in Miami, Florida. The album features background vocals from more than 1,300 inmates.
Kingdom Book 1 is expected on June 17 and will be out via Tribl Records. The highly anticipated upcoming album will drop during the middle of the Maverick City x Kirk Franklin Kingdom Tour, featuring special guests: gospel singer Jonathan McReynolds and Atlanta-based worship band Housefires.
The official music video for “Bless Me” is set for a 1 p.m. ET world premiere Friday via Franklin’s YouTube channel.
