Bryson Tiller has achieved much success during his 11-year recording career, including winning four BET Awards. The “Exchange” singer has two young daughters, Kelly, 2, and Harley, 9, and admits it is difficult with his busy schedule to give them the care they deserve.
“I’m actually still struggling with that … right now,” Tiller tells Essence. “I have a lot going on so, it’s hard for me to balance fatherhood.”
“Whenever I’m with my kids, I just try to be extremely present ’cause I know those little moments will mean more than just doing it consistently for two weeks or whatever it is,” Tiller continues.
“I just try to take those days at a time with my kids and then when it comes to music, I try to lock in. Whenever I’m in the studio, I’m in the studio. Then when I’m with my kids, I’m with my kids — I don’t think about anything else,” he adds.
Tiller is creating new music and dropped “Outside,” his first new single this year, on Thursday. The track samples 2005’s “Wait (The Whisper Song)” by the Ying Yang Twins.
“‘Outside’ is the polar opposite of what everyone is used to hearing from me,” Tiller said in a statement. “Normally we would release a song intended to put people deep in their feelings, but this song is ANTI-FEELS.”
