It’s the end of an era for Tia Mowry and husband Cory Hardrict.
The 44-year-old actress confirms the pair is calling it quits after 14 years of marriage.
“I have always been honest with my fans, and today is no different,” she wrote on Instagram Tuesday, October 4. “I wanted to share that Cory and I have decided to go our separate ways. These decisions are never easy, and not without sadness. We will maintain a friendship as we co-parent our beautiful children. I am grateful for all the happy times we had together and want to thank my friends, family and fans for your love and support as we start this new chapter moving forward in our lives.”
According to documents obtained by US Weekly, the Sister, Sister star filed for divorce in a Los Angeles court earlier in the day Tuesday, citing irreconcilable differences. Mowry reportedly didn’t include a date of separation but did request joint physical and legal custody of their 11-year-old son, Cree, and 4-year-old daughter, Cairo.
According to the report, the couple did have a prenup in place.
The Disney Channel alum previously talked with Ebony about her longtime friendship with Hardrict, dating back to their undergraduate days at Pepperdine University and leading up to their marriage in 2008.
On what advice she’d give to single women, Mowry said at the time, “You should focus on not having the relationship define who you are or a man to define who you are.”
She added, “I think the advice that I would give for single women is, we all have this kind of Prince Charming that we envision, but nobody is perfect.”
