Keri Hilson has new music on the way, but first, fans can catch her in VH1’s Hip Hop Family Christmas Wedding.

Hip Hop’s most famous family is back, and this time, Christmas wedding bells are ringing with Jessica and Jayson – played by Keri and Ne-Yo, respectively — getting ready to say their “I do’s.” While there may be drama on the screen, Keri tells ABC Audio it was a party behind the scenes and between takes thanks to their costar Terrence J.

“I’d say one of the funniest things is that Terrence J., for some reason, never comes on set without a speaker,” she explains. “He’s the vibe check guy… there’s just never a dull moment.”

“We’re dance breaking in the middle of any scene and just making it and keeping it light and fun,” she adds. “And I’m grateful to Terrence and his speaker that he would hide… He’ll put it anywhere on set so that as soon as they yell ‘cut’, he’s playing music. And that made it a lot of fun.”

Speaking of music, the “Pretty Girl Rock” singer, whose last album No Boys Allowed released in 2010, also shares that her next project “is done.”

“It’s been done. I just am waiting to authentically be fully there to release it,” she says, before noting all of the intricacies that come with releasing new work, like being fully focused. “You don’t want to overlook anything.”

Even so, Keri teases that fans could expect something soon.

“The year [is] about to shut down, I’m still on tour. I’ve got some other things I have to take care of during this year… So I could see it releasing next year,” she shares.

Hip Hop Family Christmas Wedding airs Wednesday on VH1 at 8 p.m ET.
