With just a few weeks left until 2023, Shaquille O’Neal is sharing his New Year’s Eve plans.
On December 31, the sports analyst is hosting The Shaq-tacular Spectacular — a one-hour recorded event that will repeatedly stream on Meta’s VR and social platforms all night long, according to Variety. The special will feature “an epic neon-light performance” with Shaq aka DJ Diesel on the 1s and 2s, as well as appearances by former NFL player Rob Gronkowski and model Camille Kostek. Cardi B, Ludacris, Lil Yachty, Killer Mike and Whipped Cream are slated to hit the stage that night.
Additionally, Shaq’s special will include a set complete with a roller rink, basketball court and main stage. A marching band, cheerleaders, pro roller skaters and basketball players will also be around, and fans, specifically VR users, will have the opportunity to virtually replicate some featured dance-offs.
“This year we’re ringing in 2023 with new experiences and connections. I’m excited to celebrate with some of my favorite artists and athletes in a way that you can enjoy with friends and family in VR across the world,” Shaq said in a statement. “From music, laughs and much more, we’re celebrating New Year’s Eve and welcoming 2023 with a spectacular party you won’t want to miss!”
The Shaq-tacular Spectacular premieres Saturday, December 31, at 3:30 p.m. PT. It will be available to stream in VR in Meta Horizon Worlds and on Meta Quest TV, the Meta Quest 2 headset, O’Neal’s Facebook and Instagram pages, and in Messenger’s Watch Together.
