Erykah Badu is venturing into the weed industry. The neo soul singer has teamed up with entrepreneur Berner to release her own strain titled The Badu.
According to Erykah, the strain, grown by Mad Cow Genetics, has a very faint lemon smell. “It’s really nice and natural, sort of like a ballad. It just makes you move light and it kind of gets you through your day and you’re not zooted,” she says of The Badu.
To describe its potency, she recalled the first time she experienced it. “It was about four of us … we had one spliff, no tobacco. And we each hit it two or three times and we were like comatose,” she said, per Vibe. “But then, the next time we did the experiment, we each hit it one time and we had such a wonderful experience.”
Along with news of Erykah’s weed strain is the announcement of her mushroom tea box set, also created with Berner. The set includes psilocybin flavors Ginger Magic and Earl Grey Creme, as well as the functional flavors Golden Focus and Bergamot Brain Boost.
“These are really for your evenings or meditations or vision quests or evenings when you have an opportunity to commune with your mind,” Badu said of the teas. They’re also “very good for emotional balance” and “any kind of nervous system malfunction or dysfunction,” she added.
Badu’s weed strain and tea box set will reportedly be available on Berner’s Cookies website. They may be available later on the singer’s online shop, Badu World Market.
