2 Chainz, a graduate of Alabama State University, will be returning to his alma mater for a special occasion. The rapper is set to headline the halftime performance at Honda’s Battle of the Bands.

“As an HBCU and Alabama State alum, I am always looking for ways to support the HBCU community and pay it forward and performing at this year’s Honda Battle of the Bands is an incredible way to accomplish it,” said 2 Chainz, who’ll be taking the stage with some classic hits. “HBOB brings together my commitment to supporting HBCU culture and my love for music and I’m not only excited to perform but looking forward to seeing the talented student musicians shine.”

HBOB is a showdown between six historically Black college and university marching bands, selected with the help of a nationwide online vote. This year’s contestants — Alabama State University, Langston University, Morgan State University, Savannah State University, Texas Southern University and Virginia State University — will be treated to an all-expense-paid trip to the showcase and a $50,000 institutional grant from Honda to sustain their music education programs.
