Black Thought has a new memoir on the way, and when it drops, he hopes it helps people with their healing process.

“I hope in sharing so much about my upbringing we can find new courage to start the difficult conversations that prompt healing, with ourselves and others. As men. As Black men. As humans,” he wrote of his book, titled The Upcycled Self.

The rapper says the memoir has “been years in the making” and he is “so proud of this work.”

As Variety reported, an announcement for The Upcycled Self describes it as a “coming of age” story that paints a “riveting and moving portrait” of Black Thought as a young man. It features “dramatic stories of the four powerful relationships that shaped him — community, friends, art, and family — each a complex weave of love, discovery, trauma, and loss.”

The book has a release date set for November 14, but is available for preorder now.
