Nicki Minaj’s “Super Freaky Girls” goes double Platinum

Nicki Minaj has a scored another accomplishment for one of her recent records. Released last year, her single “Super Freaky Girl” has been certified double Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. She’s since taken to her socials to thank fans for running up the track.

“Double platinum in less than a year,” Nicki wrote on her Instagram Story. “First sole female rap debut in 25 years. The barbz & the bad btchs on the #QueenMix are to thank,” she continued, referring to her fan group and “Queen Mix” collaborators JTBIAKatie Got BandzAkbar V and Maliibu Miitch. “I love you.”

“Super Freaky Girl” dropped in August and samples Rick James‘ 1981 single “Super Freak.” It debuted atop the Billboard Hot 100, becoming her first #1 as a solo artist, and previously broke Spotify’s record for biggest debut for a solo female rap song.
