Swae Lee‘s performance with Rae Sremmurd may have gone well at Coachella last weekend, but it was not without a rocky behind-the-scenes moment. TMZ reports the rapper and his crew got into it with security when they arrived on the festival grounds. Footage of the encounter shows Swae and the team were approached by members of the festival’s security team, who claimed they didn’t recognize the rapper.

“As Swae Lee attempted to enter the festival with his newborn son and working crew, overzealous security guards confronted them,” Lee’s team told TMZ in a statement. “As 1/2 of Rae Sremmurd, he was due to perform on Coachella’s Outdoor Theatre stage at 5:55 PM. Security claimed not to recognize the talent and then aggressively initiated contact as they attempted to make their way to the stage.”

The statement continued, “The security guards, which we presume are independent contractors, are seen clearly being the aggressors and then throwing gang signs at end of the video in a celebration.”

Despite the hiccup, Swae and his brother Slim Jxmmi made it to their set and performed songs from the latest Rae Sremmurd album, Sremm 4 Life.
